About us

So the story goes a little something like this…

Anju’s sister – Ranjana – was in an acting class in highschool with Van around 1992. She introduced us to one another because she thought we would make good friends. She was right! We hit it off immediately and remained friends up through 2001 – where life happened, and we simply fell out of touch.

In the winter of 2007, after returning from a trip to China, Anju decided to try to reconnect with her old friend Van, but he was no where to be found (easily) on the internet – so all efforts were aborted. Anju was encouraged, by a friend, to “get back in the game & date! Go back on the internet or something” so that is what Anju did.

Simultaneously, Van happened to do the same. Of note, for years, Van’s mother had been asking “whatever happened to Anju?” to which he always replied “I don’t know”…. that is until the fateful night of February 11th 2008 where we were matched on an online dating service. Van finally had an answer for his mom!

Long story short -

• Our first recommunication on the phone was February 12th
• First date February 15th at Riva (Navy Pier)
• First engagement February 29th (diamond necklace – Anju’s place)
• Second engagement March 13th (diamond ring – Millenium Park)
• First wedding April 11th (Legal Ceremony – Cook County Court house)
• Moved in together in May (Van’s condo)
• Rented out Anju’s place (June 1st)
• Second wedding August 15th (Formal Ceremony  – Anju’s parent’s house; Reception @ Chicago Botanic Garden)
• WHIRLWIND!!!

Now we are married, settled, going through life’s ups and downs, and ultimately learning and growing together with our foundation of friendship supporting us.

….and that is all about us!
